Northern Highlights Loop (Recommended for 6–8 Days)
Total Distance: ~1100 km
The perfect route for first-timers. Cross Snake Canyon, climb the mighty Jebel Shams, and wander through Oman’s historic gems like Jabreen Castle, Bahla Fortress, and Nizwa Fort.
You’ll also descend into the dunes of the Wahiba Sands and explore coastal wadis like Wadi Arbeen, Wadi Shab, and Wadi Tiwi.
This loop can be done clockwise or counterclockwise, depending on your starting point.
Desert & Coastal Extension (Recommended for 10–12 Days)

Take it further with a touch of wild isolation. Add one of Oman’s remote coastal gems:
To reach these, you’ll cross the desert — usually from north to south. It takes about 3–4 hours and requires a 4WD, a full tank, deflated tires, and offline GPS. There is no mobile signal in this area, so be well prepared.

Grand Oman Road Trip (Recommended for 12 Days or More)
Total Distance: ~3400 km
If you’re ready to go all in, drive down to Salalah, Oman’s green jewel in the south. It’s a long journey (10 hours from Muscat or 8 from the Sugar Dunes), but the reward is worth it.
Make sure to explore:
The dramatic Shuwamiyah coast road
The wild west toward Rakhyut and the Yemeni border (safe and scenic)
A bold detour into the Rub’ al Khali (Empty Quarter)
